Biggoron’s Sword Trade Sequence

The most powerful sword in the game requires completing a lengthy trading sequence as Adult Link:

  1. Pocket Egg → hatch into Pocket Cucco (wait one day cycle)
  2. Wake Talon in Kakariko with the Cucco
  3. Cojiro (blue cucco) — give to odd man in Lost Woods
  4. Odd Mushroom — must deliver to Kakariko Potion Shop before it rots (3 minutes real time)
  5. Odd Potion — give to woman in Lost Woods
  6. Poacher’s Saw — give to Kokiri carpenter foreman at Gerudo Valley
  7. Broken Goron’s Sword — give to Biggoron on Death Mountain
  8. Prescription — give to King Zora (requires thawing with Blue Fire)
  9. Eyeball Frog — must deliver to Lake Hylia scientist quickly
  10. World’s Finest Eye Drops — deliver to Biggoron quickly
  11. Claim Check — wait 3 days, then claim Biggoron’s Sword

The sword deals double the damage of the Master Sword and never breaks.

Hidden Fairy Fountains

Great Fairy Fountains are hidden throughout Hyrule and reward bomb upgrades, Nayru’s Love, and spin attack upgrades:

  • Hyrule Castle: Child Link only, bomb the lone boulder on the path
  • Death Mountain: Bomb the cracked wall near the Great Fairy stone
  • Zora’s Fountain: Bomb the cracked wall visible from the island in the center
  • Desert Colossus: Bomb the cracked wall to the left of the Spirit Temple entrance
  • Ganon’s Castle Exterior: Bomb wall visible on the way to Ganon’s Castle

Infinite Rupees from Business Scrubs

Business Scrubs in Zora’s Domain and other areas sell you Blue Fire or other items. Some of these prices actually refund rupees on a loop if you know the right sequence of purchases. More practically: chickens drop blue rupees fairly consistently when attacked (before they retaliate).

Skip the Water Temple Iron Boots

In the original N64 version, the Iron Boots must be equipped from the pause screen every time you need to sink to the bottom. The trick to minimizing frustration: equip them to C-Down (or your most accessible button) before entering the Water Temple and never use that slot for anything else during the dungeon.

In the 3DS remake, Iron Boots are moved to the Touch Screen item bar for instant equipping without pause menus.

Din’s Fire Secret: Lighting All Torches

Din’s Fire (Great Fairy reward from Hyrule Castle area) can light multiple torches simultaneously in one use. In puzzles requiring multiple lit torches (like several in the Fire Temple), one well-placed Din’s Fire can light all required torches at once rather than lighting each individually.

Scarecrow’s Song

As Young Link, pull out the Ocarina near the two scarecrows at Lake Hylia. Talk to Bonooru (the scarecrow in the soil). Play any 8-note custom melody — this becomes the “Scarecrow’s Song.” As Adult Link, return and play the same song to summon Pierre the scarecrow in hard-to-reach places throughout the world, giving a hookshot anchor point.

Bottle Duplication Glitch (Original N64)

In the original cartridge (v1.0 and v1.1), a glitch allows duplicating bottle contents by:

  1. Equipping a bottle to a C-button slot
  2. Opening a door or talking to an NPC
  3. Pressing C to use the bottle simultaneously with the interaction

This was patched in later cartridge revisions. Useful in non-patched versions for infinite fairies or Lon Lon Milk.

Faster Travel: Reverse Serenade of Water

Normally, the Serenade of Water warps Link to Lake Hylia. However, you can use the warp songs in reverse by being inside the location and warping out. Some warps allow unexpected routing for experienced players.

Damage Glitch to Cross Gerudo Fortress Quickly

By taking specific damage at specific moments while crossing from Gerudo Valley, Link can be knocked in a trajectory that bypasses guards entirely, reaching Haunted Wasteland faster without needing Epona or the Longshot crossing.
